I can’t quite figure out where to start, so much has changed and continues to change. Last year, was a roller coaster of a year for me. I think some context would help so here we go, found out that I was going to be a father, bought a fixer upper house, hired a contractor, got ripped off losing LOTS of money, got a job, had my appendix almost kill me, had my first major surgery because of said appendix, dealt with major friend issues, became a father (Awesome by the way), and some how attempted to continue school. However, amidst the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations my school work suffered tremendously and I feel apart. Crazy right!
I’m extremely happy to say that life is good! I was approved for late withdrawals from all of my classes and I’m taking this semester off (spring 2014) to be with my beautiful and amazing baby girl.
However, my decision to withdraw and take this semester off left me in a bind. Do I continue on as an Animation/Illustration major, which would take 3-4 more semesters and a lot more money, or do I graduate this Fall 2014 with a degree (Design Studies) that does not reflect my core education?
I chose the latter, I am now a Design Studies major! Say it ain't so Ryan… Yep! I had to ask myself what is important, graduating with a particular title or graduating with a skill set. I believe that I have the skills to obtain the career I want. What it comes down to is practice and discipline. That being said I’m getting back on the horse, I’m drawing every day and I have assignments lined up for myself to keep me busy.I hope I can find more time to post but she tends to keep me busy :)
